When national Ultimate Frisbee athlete Darryl Ng suffered an ACL tear in mid-2022, his future in the sport seemed uncertain. Yet today, he's representing Singapore at the prestigious World Ultimate Tournament in Gold Coast, Australia – a testament to surgical excellence and athletic determination.
Following his successful ACL reconstruction at International Orthopaedic Clinic (IOC), Darryl chose to rehabilitate at PhysioNorth under the expertise of lead physiotherapist Thye. Drawing from his extensive experience with elite athletes, Thye designed a comprehensive program that addressed the unique demands of Ultimate Frisbee explosive directional changes, quick accelerations, and aerial maneuvers.
At PhysioNorth's facility, Darryl's commitment to rehabilitation was matched by Thye's meticulous attention to detail. The program incorporated sport-specific elements like deceleration training, rotational stability work, and jumping mechanics. By month nine, he was progressing through return-to-sport protocols, and at the one-year mark, he achieved the remarkable feat of returning to national team training.
Now, 1.5 years post-surgery, Darryl's performance with the national team showcases the high standard of care at PhysioNorth. His journey from surgery to international competition exemplifies how top-tier surgical intervention, expert physiotherapy guidance, and athlete determination can lead to optimal outcomes in high-level sports.
