When Raphael Ng arrived at Physio North in early 2023, he was on crutches following a complex knee surgery - ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair performed by renowned surgeon Dr. Fucai Han. For this promising young basketball player, the path back to competitive play seemed daunting, especially with the prestigious Rigorer Cup on the horizon.
The complexity of dual procedures required an especially meticulous rehabilitation approach. Building upon Dr. Han's excellent surgical foundation, we developed a comprehensive recovery program that respected healing timeframes for both the ACL and meniscus repair.
Raphael's commitment to recovery was extraordinary. Each rehabilitation milestone - from early range-of-motion exercises to advanced basketball-specific drills - was met with determination. His progress was carefully monitored, ensuring the repaired meniscus was protected while rebuilding the strength and stability needed for competitive basketball.
At 13 months post-surgery, Raphael achieved what many thought impossible. Not only did he return to competitive play, but he performed at an elite level in the 2024 Rigorer Cup Under-18 finals, helping his team secure the championship. His movement on the court showed no signs of the complex surgery he had undergone just over a year ago.
This success story highlights the power of surgical excellence combined with dedicated rehabilitation. At PhysioNorth, we're proud to have played a role in Raphael's journey, demonstrating how the right medical team can help talented athletes return to championship form.
